Shanghai’s pre-eminent Underground House and Techno crew Void bring Traxx aka Melvin Oliphant and his wacked-out, futuristic vision of Chicago House music to the Shelter on September 20.
Following their last party back in June, when the legendary minimal techno pioneer Robert Hood debuted in China and created one of the most legendary nights yet experienced at The Shelter, Void is back with an artist who is just as innovative in his own right.
As a self-described "artist of sound," Traxx is single-handedly responsible for inventing the “jakbeat” sound – a turbo-charged take on old school acid and Chicago house for the 00s put together with the unmistakeable tones of classic analogue gear such as the TR-909, TR-808 and of course the TB-303.
Traxx definitely falls into the “larger than life” category and his sheer presence behind the decks is an experience in itself - Void guarantees an evening of pure dance floor mayhem and an atmosphere to match.
Traxx released on numerous labels such as Gigolo, Muzique, Relief, M/O/S, Crème Organization and Crème-Jak under different monikers such as Xxart, Saturn V, X2, The Green Goblin, Dirty Criminals and some more. He has collaborated with James T. Cotton, DJ Hell, Green Velvet, D'marc Cantu, Mount Sims, Legowelt and many more to shape his unique definition of Jakbeat.
Traxx will be accompanied by Void residents Nat Alexander, Fish and Shanghai Ultra
